Privacy Policy (kntd:discover)

This privacy policy governs your use of the software application kntd:discover ("the App") for mobile devices that was created by Samuel Harrison ("the Developer"). If you have any questions about this policy please contact the Developer at [email protected].

What information does the App obtain and how is it used?

Information you provide

The App is a third-party client for Ravelry. To use the App you must log in with your existing Ravelry account. The Developer does not create or manage any separate accounts, and does not store any of your personal data on any server. All of your data — including your projects, patterns, stash, and profile — is stored in and retrieved directly from your Ravelry account via the Ravelry API.

To authenticate with Ravelry, the App stores your Ravelry access token locally on your device only. This token is never transmitted to any server operated by the Developer.

The Developer may obtain your email address when you request support or provide feedback via email. Your email is used only to contact you to provide support, feedback or important information, and is retained only for as long as necessary to resolve your request.

Legal basis for processing (UK & EU users)

The Developer processes personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR and EU GDPR:

Legitimate interests — Analytics and crash reporting data is collected to maintain and improve the App. This data is anonymized and aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Consent — Personalised advertising via AdMob is based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time via your device privacy settings or Google's ad settings.

Contract performance — Your Ravelry access token is stored locally on your device solely to enable the core functionality of the App.

Analytics

The App collects usage data that is essential for delivering the service, understanding your needs, and improving the App. This includes app launches, taps, clicks, scrolling information, in-app purchases, screen visits, session durations, or other information about how you use the app. This data is anonymized and aggregated from all users. The App also collects crashes and performance reports to help improve the stability and performance of the app.

The App does NOT collect any user-generated content, such as project names, project notes, or anything you type or enter within the app.

Security

The Developer takes reasonable measures to protect your data. All communication between the App and the Ravelry API is made over HTTPS. Your Ravelry access token is stored locally on your device using the platform's secure storage mechanisms (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). The Developer does not operate any servers that store your personal data.

Data Retention

The Developer does not store your personal data on any server. The only personal data retained by the Developer is your email address when you contact the Developer for support or feedback. This is kept only for as long as necessary to resolve your request and is then deleted.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. The Developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact the Developer at [email protected] and the information will be deleted.

Your Rights

UK & EU users (UK GDPR / GDPR)

If you are located in the UK or European Union, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access — You have the right to request a copy of the personal data held about you.

Right to rectification — You have the right to request that inaccurate personal data be corrected.

Right to erasure — You have the right to request that your personal data be deleted.

Right to object — You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing or where processing is based on legitimate interests.

Right to withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent (such as personalised advertising), you may withdraw your consent at any time via your device privacy settings.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact the Developer at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK at https://ico.org.uk.

California users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. The Developer does not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, please contact the Developer at [email protected].

Third Party Services

The following third-party services are used in the App:

Ravelry (Ravelry Inc.)

The App uses the Ravelry API as its primary data source. You must log in with your Ravelry account to use the App. All data you view or interact with — including your projects, patterns, stash, queue, and favourites — is stored in and managed by your Ravelry account. Actions such as adding patterns to your library, updating projects, or managing your stash are performed directly through the Ravelry API. No copies of this data are stored on any server operated by the Developer.

Ravelry may collect information from you when providing this functionality. To see what information Ravelry may collect and how it may be processed, please see Ravelry's privacy policy at https://www.ravelry.com/about/privacy.

Google Analytics for Firebase (Google Inc.)

This service helps to collect and analyze usage data in order to understand usage patterns and to improve the app on both iOS and Android.

Data collected: various usage data, Firebase installation IDs, Analytics App Instance IDs, anonymized IP addresses, session durations, device models, operating systems, geography, in-app purchases, first launches, app opens, app updates.

Firebase Crashlytics (Google Inc.)

This service helps to identify crashes and errors in the app, and to improve the reliability and stability of the app on both iOS and Android.

Data collected: Crashlytics Installation UUIDs, crash traces, device models, geography, operating systems.

AdMob (Google Inc.)

AdMob is used to display advertisements, which may be personalized based on your interests. AdMob uses device identifiers to identify users and may use behavioral retargeting techniques — displaying ads tailored to your interests and behavior, including activity detected outside the app.

Google's advertising requirements can be summarized by Google's Advertising Principles at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/. They are put in place to provide a positive experience for users.

Personal data collected: Google Advertiser ID, Device Advertising ID.

If you do not want to see personalized ads based on your interests you can opt out at https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated. Please note that you will still see the same number of ads but they will be less relevant to you. On iOS and Android you can also reset or limit ad tracking through your device's privacy settings.

Changes

The Developer reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to modify or replace this Policy at any time. Any changes to this privacy policy will be posted on this page. You should check this page from time to time and take note of any changes.
